The Working Mum's Best Friend

Wouldn't it be nice to look as though one has just jumped out of an Armani magazine each and every day.  In most households - not likely.  Mon-Fri between dawn and clock-on, the working mum is jumping out of bed to check emails, organising man and children, feeding pets, cleaning up the breakfast dishes and throwing on a load of washing.  We simply don't have time to ponder outfit or hair and yet our jobs demand that we are perfectly presented.

The working Mum's best friend then, has to be, the Wrap Dress, or in it's other form the Shirt Dress.  Effortless style, simple, classic and comfortable.  It looks good every time, doesn't require careful coordinating consideration and isn't expensive.  It is perfect in most climates and most work environments and suits every type of figure.  It can take you from the office to the pub or the school play and everywhere in between.

Here are my picks

DVF - Diane von Furstenberg is the master of the wrap dress, originally launching in the 1970's.  My favourite cut is the Jeanne which comes in assorted silk jersey prints each season.

This can be a deep V, so appropriately modest for work, a cami underneath works perfectly.  Buy this direct from DVF between USD250-USD400.  Or from ShopBop (for no extra shipping cost).  Or if you prefer, buy direct at David Jones but be prepared to pay substantially more due to customs & GST.

Rhodes Beckett - beautiful Egyptian cotton shirt dresses, my favourite the pink floral print at $269

Lauren by Ralph Lauren Faux Wraps - there are a number of great jersey faux wrap dresses under the Luaren label which are incredibly cheap.  Note this label is a relaxed fit so you may want to size down.
